Shanghai SIPG are reportedly looking to sign both West Ham star Arnautovic and Payet.

Dimitri Payet is reportedly being tracked by Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG, and that could prevent Marko Arnautovic leaving West Ham United this month – to the delight of Hammers fans.

Sky Sports have reported that Shanghai SIPG are interested in signing Payet, who is hated by West Ham fans after he left the club in January 2017 to return to Marseille.

The 38-time France international rejoined Marseille for £25million, and has been a success with the Ligue 1 club. He scored 10 goals and created 24 more in assists throughout 2017-18, as Marseille reached the Europa League final.

Now, Payet is attracting interest from Shanghai SIPG, who had a £35million bid rejected for Arnautovic earlier this month. It is believed he could double his money with a £200,000-a-week contract.

West Ham are holding out for as much as £50million for Austria international Arnautovic. But with the Chinese club only having one foreign spot free – a move for Payet could prevent Shanghai signing Arnautovic.

West Ham fans have realised this, and have reacted on Twitter to the fact that hated figure Payet could help them keep Arnautovic by moving to join the likes of Brazilian superstars Hulk and Oscar.
