Sky Sports have claimed on their Transfer Centre (Wednesday, 10:01) that West Ham United have made an offer worth £20million for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes – and some Hammers fans are excited on Twitter.

The 23-year-old was in fantastic form for Sporting Lisbon during the 2017-18 campaign, scoring 16 goals and creating another 20 strikes during his 56 league and cup appearances.

Fernandes only signed for Sporting last summer from Italian side Sampdoria, but has taken his game to a whole new level in Liga NOS and now West Ham are desperate to bring the playmaker to the London Stadium with Manuel Lanzini out.

Some Hammers fans reacted with absolute delight on Twitter, with one fan describing the potential signing of Fernandes as “unreal business”, in what would be the Hammers fourth recruit after Lukasz Fabianski, Issa Diop and Ryan Fredericks.

But the reaction is not completely positive, with a few West Ham fans unsure.
