West Ham United don’t know what division they will be in next season but are still being linked with summer signings.

West Ham United's Scottish manager David Moyes arrives for the English Premier League football match between West Ham United and Burnley at The London Stadium, in east London on March 10,...

West Ham face an uphill battle to survive this season having fallen dreadfully out of form at the wrong time.

David Moyes’ side have slipped down the Premier League table into 17th, one place and just two points off the dropzone with eight games left.

The next of those games against the team below them, Southampton, could go some way to deciding their fate.

There is been major unrest among fans who are calling for owners David Sullivan and David Gold to sell up after a string of broken promises regarding spending, ambition and the move to the London Stadium.

David Sullivan, owner of West Ham looks on from the stands during the Premier League match between Hull City and West Ham United at KCOM Stadium on April 1, 2017 in Hull, England.

Last month Sullivan pledged to rip up the club’s failing recruitment process in the summer in a bid to bring in better quality players.

But that hasn’t stopped the club being linked with a sensational move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, as reported by the likes of The Daily Star.

The report claims West Ham are willing to meet the £53 million fee for the Frenchman and even that the player is waiting to see if the Hammers retain their Premier League status.

Karim Benzema of Real Madrid CF looks on from the bench before the La Liga match between Espanyol and Real Madrid at RCDE Stadium on February 27, 2018 in Barcelona, Spain.

West Ham have been linked with big money moves in the past, usually before a season ticket deadline.

And fans have laughed off the Benzema report viewing it with cynicism on Twitter.
