Ryan Fredericks impressed a number of West Ham United fans with his latest performance for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
Several West Ham fans have lauded Ryan Fredericks’ performance during the Irons’ brilliant 1-0 victory away at Tottenham at the weekend, with many suggesting that he was the unsung hero in the win.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men not only became the first visiting team to score at Spurs’ new stadium, but Michail Antonio’s strike proved to be the goal that ended Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s flawless start at their new home.
It was a superb defensive display from the visitors, who produced a number of brilliant challenges, blocks and clearances to keep the home side at bay, particularly in the second-half.
According to Whoscored, Fredericks made seven successful tackles during the game. That was two more than the next best players on the pitch, while Felipe Anderson was the second most prolific West Ham player with four challenges.
The 26-year-old has left plenty of Hammers fans on social media feeling confident that he is the man that Pellegrini should put his faith in at right-back moving forward after a campaign in which he has jostled with Pablo Zabaleta.
Zabaleta’s future at the London Stadium currently looks unclear. But if he does leave, Fredericks’ performance against Spurs suggests that it will not be as much of a concern for the Irons as it may have looked set to be earlier in the season.
