West Ham United were left disappointed at Anfield as they were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Liverpool on Saturday night.
The Hammers made the long trip north to take on Jurgen Klopp’s champions, and took a shock lead in the first half.
Joe Gomez failed to deal with an Arthur Masuaku cross, and Pablo Fornals took advantage by firing past Alisson.
David Moyes’ men couldn’t hang on, as Masuaku brought down Mohamed Salah, and the Egyptian stepped up to smash his penalty past Lukasz Fabianski.
West Ham frustrated Liverpool for much of the game, but were undone as substitute Diogo Jota latched onto Xherdan Shaqiri’s pass to score the winner.
Moyes saw a number of players turn in strong performances as West Ham turned in a battling display, and Aaron Cresswell came in for major praise.

The 30-year-old was born in Liverpool and was with the Reds as a kid, so will have been delighted to turn in such a strong showing against his former club, helping keep the likes of Salah and Roberto Firmino relatively quiet.
Fans took to Twitter to hail Cresswell, branding him ‘class’ and ‘immense’, believing that he has been outstanding since moving from left back to a left-sided centre back role under David Moyes.
