West Ham United fans have been given a big hint as to what the club’s new third kit will look like, thanks to Scottish Premiership side Hearts.
West Ham fans outside the ground
The Hammers have released a first ever black away kit this season which was well received by supporters.
And the club officially unveiled its latest claret and blue home strip for the 2017/18 campaign on whufc.com yesterday.
West Ham fans love to see a bit of effort made with their kits whether they respect tradition, go retro or try to be original.
Pictures of the new home kit on sale in a sports shop in Thailand were leaked online way ahead of the official confirmation and the reaction was mixed with some slamming the club and kit maker Umbro for the design.
The official pictures show the shirt more favourably, though, and there has been a change in tide in opinion on the strip.
So could the club be about to complete a hat-trick of impressive kits after popular Twitter ITK ExWHUEmployee confirmed the third shirt will be a sky blue version of the latest Hearts kit – also made by Umbro.
Hammers fans love their kits
Having been privy to pictures of the third kit, Ex had described it to his near 36,000 following on Twitter.
And when asked whether fans could expect it to be a ‘sky blue version’ of the Hearts kit, he responded ‘Yep’ before following up by revealing a supporters’ mock-up picture came very close to the real thing.
Last season the club produced a hugely popular navy blue away kit which replaced the West Ham badge with the Thames Ironworks Britain flag crest which adorned their first ever kit.
West Ham only wore last season’s third kit in the friendly against Juventus
Premier League rules meant the Hammers were not allowed to wear it for matches, though.
Karren Brady told fans it would be used in the FA Cup but the shirt was only ever worn in the pre-season match against Juventus which marked the official opening of the London Stadium as West Ham’s new home.
