David Moyes brought Kevin Mirallas to Everton in 2012 – and it would be no surprise to see the duo reunite at West Ham.
David Moyes is a man of tradition. Of the 12 players he brought to Sunderland last season, eight had worked under the sour-faced Scot before.
And while the days of Jolean Lescott, Victor Anichebe and Steven Pienaar may now have passed, West Ham fans can expect to see one or two of Moyes’ famous favourites walk through the door of the London Stadium in January.
And after Sky Sports report that West Ham made a deadline day loan bid for Kevin Mirallas, it would be no surprise at all to see the London giants revive their interest in a player Moyes himself brought to Everton back in 2012.
Mirallas arrived at Goodison Park five years ago after winning the Golden Boot in the Greek first division on the back of a career-best 20-goal season at Olympiakos.
And while the goals have dried up for the Belgian international in the last few years, the 30-year-old is still as quick and direct as ever. Though Mirallas fell out of favour under former Everton boss Ronald Koeman, he still has plenty to offer – especially with the added motivation of a World Cup around the corner.
The majority of West Ham fans are, let’s say, unconvinced by the appointment of Moyes as their new manager. But sparking a reunion with Mirallas would certainly raise his popularity at the London Stadium.
