West Ham are expected to be busy in this summer’s transfer market.

Danny Welbeck talks to journalists after an England training session at St Georges Park on May 28, 2018 in Burton-upon-Trent, England.

Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck’s future could be an interesting one this summer after the appointment of Unai Emery at the Emirates Stadium – and West Ham United fans have discussed a move for the Englishman on Twitter.

Welbeck, 27, has just one more year remaining on his current contract at Arsenal, a deal which the Daily Star claim is worth a huge £70,000 a week.

He was used intermittently by manager Arsene Wenger since moving to north London from Manchester United in the summer of 2014. A whole host of injury problems have limited him to just 112 appearances.

However, this season Welbeck has managed to maintain his fitness and play 43 times, scoring 10 goals. 18 of those games came from the bench, while he was also used out wide as well as up front.

He faces huge competition from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of the 2018-19 season, as he continues to prepare for Russia with the rest of the England squad.

But Arsenal may look to sell the versatile forward this summer rather than extend his contract, in an attempt to avoid losing him on a free at the end of the season. A move to West Ham could materialise then, but West Ham fans are unsure.

Though some Hammers fans would welcome the 37-time England international, some are concerned about his injury history. One fan said “I don’t like the idea of Welbeck”, while another said Welbeck would be a “huge star for us”.
