West Ham were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Tottenham on Wednesday night.
Adrian has told West Ham United’s official website that he and his teammates tried their best to beat Tottenham Hotspur, but were ultimately knocked out of the Carabao Cup – and Hammers fans were not impressed on Twitter.
The 31-year-old made his third appearance of the season against Mauricio Pochettino’s side on Wednesday night, as he continues to act as Lukasz Fabianski’s understudy at the London Stadium.
Though the Hammers had plenty of chances, Spurs came out as victors with an excellent 3-1 win at the London Stadium thanks to a brace from Son Heung-min and a volley from Fernando Llorente.
Adrian spoke after the match, after wearing the armband for the clash, stating that he believed his side did all they could but Llorente’s late goal killed off the game.
“Obviously, we are not happy with the result,” Adrian said. “We tried and did our best. We had the chances and we scored to make the score 2-1, and the crowd was behind us. We were pushing but the third goal killed us and killed the game.”
But West Ham fans were not happy with Adrian’s assessment of the match, neither were they impressed with his performance as he failed to stop Spurs scoring three goals on the counter.
Hammers fans reacted in their drones to Adrian’s comments on Twitter, with many criticising the Spaniard’s performances while one fan Tweeted: “Fabianski is and always will be far superior.”
