West Ham United fans can’t wait for the return of Arthur Masuaku.
West Ham United have been plunged back into the relegation scrap – and fans believe they are missing suspended left back Arthur Masuaku.
Goals from Ki Sung-yueng, Mike van der Hoorn, Andy King and Jordan Ayew handed Swansea City a 4-1 win over West Ham on Saturday afternoon, with Michail Antonio’s goal a mere consolation.
The Hammers now sit just three points clear of the relegation zone and in real danger of being dragged back towards the bottom three, with manager David Moyes needing results.
After 3-1 and 4-1 defeats at Brighton and Hove Albion and Liverpool, West Ham have now taken just five points in their last six games, and Moyes’ outstanding run appears to be over.
That has somewhat coincided with the suspension of defender Arthur Masuaku, who was sent off for spitting during the FA Cup fourth round tie with Wigan Athletic on the 27th of January, eventually receiving a six-match ban.
The 24-year-old had carved out an important role under Moyes, featuring prominently as a left wing back or left-sided midfielder, bringing real drive and pace out wide with his marauding runs forward.
Fans now believe that Masuaku’s absence is a major problem, suggesting that the dip in results has been largely down to the 2016 signing’s suspension, as he offered so much down the left.
Some think West Ham would already be safe if Masuaku hadn’t missed the last five Premier League games, and can’t wait for him to return, with the final game of his suspension coming up on Saturday against Burnley.
