A number of West Ham United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on ex-Hammer Adrian’s performance in Liverpool’s Champions League defeat against Napoli on Tuesday night.

The 32-year-old, who made 150 appearances in six years at West Ham, left the London Stadium this summer as he was eager to play first-team football, as confirmed by co-chairman David Gold on Twitter.

Now at Liverpool, he has taken over from first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who was injured in the Reds’ first Premier League game of the season against Norwich City, and has been impressive between the sticks for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Against Napoli, Adrian made a great double save early on, then truly showed his class in the second half when, with the scores still level at 0-0, he made a simply sensational one-handed save to keep out Dries Mertens’ volley from inside the six-yard box.

Here is what some West Ham fans on social media made of their former cult hero’s save and overall display:

Adrian is a fan favourite at West Ham due to his attitude and work ethic while at the club and was part of some memorable moments, not least the final season at the Boleyn Ground when the Hammers secured a seventh-place finish in the Premier League.
