HITC Sport understands that West Ham United face competition from a number of Premier League rivals to land Turkish striker Burak Yilmaz.
The Hammers are looking for a new striker and have made room with the sale of Mauro Zarate to Fiorentina, and it appears that their new front-man will arrive from Istanbul.
As well as Galatasaray’s Yilmaz, they have also gone in for Fenerbahce’s Emmanuel Emenike – currently on-loan at Al Ain.
A deal for 28-year-old Emenike is far from straightforward though, and HITC Sport understands The Hammers are now focussing on a deal for Yilmaz.
Galatasaray would ideally like a permanent deal, with around £5million, but they would accept a loan – with a big fee for the 30-year-old, and talks are ongoing with The Hammers.
But HITC Sport has learned that up to half-a-dozen Premier League clubs have made contact about Yilmaz this month – including Tottenham, Liverpool and Stoke City.
West Ham are aware of their English rivals coming in, and are pushing hard to tie up a deal.
