The QPR winger hit an absolute beauty against Crystal Palace this weekend.
It was yet another day to forget for QPR this afternoon, as they were defeated 3-1 by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Goals from Wilfried Zaha, James McArthur and Joel Ward did the business in the first-half, as QPR seem to be drifting toward relegation back to the Championship.
But while it was a miserable day in general, there were some pluses to take from the game. Well … one at least. That would have to be the magnificent strike from Matt Phillips in the 83rd minute. The winger struck a venomous effort at goal from 40 yards out which left Palace stopper Julian Speroni with no chance.
It was a strike that had Twitter twitching, including a West Ham defender. Winston Reid, who recently signed a new deal at West Ham, was unavailable for The Hammers game with Arsenal this afternoon.
The Kiwi centre-back was quick to praise the goal, posting this on Twitter immediately after the ball hit the back of the Palace net:
Not even Reid could have done anything to prevent this strike from hitting the back of the net.
