West Ham defender Jose Fonte has been sidelined since October.

The 34-year-old central defender has been sidelined since October 28 after a calf injury forced him off the field of play during the Hammers’ 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

David Moyes has since used James Collins, Winston Reid, Declan Rice and Angelo Ogbonna at centre-back, but with his tendency to use a three-man defence at times, having Fonte will give him the cover the Hammers so desperately need.
Fonte posted a video on his Instagram story while undergoing a massage on the injury, stating that the muscle feels good as the former Southampton defender nears a full recovery.

West Ham are next in action on January 2, as they play host to West Bromwich Albion and former Hammers manager Alan Pardew at the London Stadium.
It remains to be seen if Euro 2016 winner Fonte will be available for the clash, as Moyes looks to continue in his attempts to steer his side clear of the relegation zone.
The east Londoners may be in for a tough afternoon against the Baggies, with the Midlands outfit losing just once in their last seven meetings against West Ham. The last time the two sides met resulted in a 0-0 draw at the Hawthorns in September.
