West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has admitted that he should have warned his teammates about Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.
Burnley frustrate West Ham in 0-0 draw
West Ham headed way to Burnley on Sunday afternoon for a tricky trip to Turf Moor.
The game ended in a 0-0 draw with neither side ultimately able to make the breakthrough in front goal.
It wasn’t for the want of trying though as West Ham had a number of chances to break the deadlock.
Nick Pope made great saves to deny the likes of Issa Diop, Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen to keep West Ham at bay.
A point isn’t the worst result in the world, but it could have been better for West Ham if not for Pope.
Rice praises Pope display
One man who knows Pope very well is West Ham midfielder Rice, given that they are in the England setup together.
Rice spoke after the final whistle and heaped praise on Pope whilst sharing a regret.

Rice suggested that he should have told his West Ham teammates to put their shots low and hard.
With Pope so big and dominant aerially, Rice feels he should have offered some advice to his West Ham teammates.
Instead, Pope was able to keep West Ham at bay, proving Rice right for his verdict of being a ‘top goalkeeper’.
“Pope is a top goalkeeper, I should’ve probably told the lads before the game to put it hard and low because anything up top he’s probably one of the best in the world at saving them,” said Rice.
