West Ham United failed to land Leander Dendoncker last month.

Anderlecht star Leander Dendoncker has told Het Laatste Nieuws that he would’ve liked to join West Ham United – but criticised their last-gasp approach.
The Hammers were in the market for a new midfielder in January, and whilst playmaker Joao Mario arrived from Inter Milan, a more defensive-minded player did not join the club.
It seemingly wasn’t for the want of trying though, as Het Laatste Nieuws in Belgium report that West Ham offered a deal for Anderlecht’s Leander Dendoncker on deadline day, but ultimately came up short.

Today, Dendoncker has told HLN that West Ham would have been a nice step for his career, but their attempts to sign him at the last minute ultimately made a deal difficult to push through.
The 22-year-old has been one of Europe’s most promising midfielders in recent years, having already racked up over 150 appearances for Anderlecht, and he looks set for a bright future in the game.
Now Dendoncker has admitted that he was interested in a move to West Ham, co-chairman David Sullivan should realise his huge error in not managing to come up with a good enough deal for the Belgian.

If Dendoncker continues to impress in Belgium, West Ham may not get another chance to sign the midfielder, especially with murmurings that Manchester United have been tracking his progress.
Factor in that Dendoncker criticised West Ham’s last-gasp approach to sign him, and it seems that Sullivan has made a major error over his pursuit of the midfielder, and may be left to rue his decisions.
