West Ham United are reportedly keen on Liverpool’s Danny Ings.
Reports from The Sun over the weekend have suggested that West Ham United want to sign Liverpool attacker Danny Ings – which would give David Moyes a chance to finally work with the forward.
The Hammers made Moyes their new manager last week after Slaven Bilic’s sacking, and the Scot will be looking to keep his new side in the top flight after a torrid start to the season.
Moyes will be giving a chance to all of his players, but with just two months until the transfer window, he may also have transfer targets in mind – such as Liverpool ace Ings.
Moyes has Diafra Sakho, Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll at his disposal, but the move for Ings could present the Hammers boss not only with another goal threat, but with a player he has wanted for some time.
Back in January 2015, Moyes – then managing Spanish side Real Sociedad – told BBC Sport that he was interested in signing Ings from Burnley, claiming that anyone would like to have a goalscorer of his quality at their disposal.
“Danny is someone who I think has done really well, and who anyone would like to have,” said Moyes, who was unsure whether Real Sociedad could attract Moyes into heading to Spain.
Ings, 25, starred with Burnley having scored 43 goals in 130 games for the Clarets, but his time with Liverpool has become something of a nightmare after two major knee injuries.
Those setbacks have limited Ings to just three goals in 12 games for Liverpool, and it would be understandable for Jurgen Klopp to send the striker out on loan in January.
Whilst some may feel that West Ham don’t need a striker like Ings right now, Moyes’ long-term admiration for Ings means a deal makes sense – and it may just encourage Liverpool into feeling that Ings would play regular first-team football for the Hammers should he head there on loan in January.
