West Ham scouted Alfonso Pedraza before his switch to Leeds United.
Leeds United pulled off one of the most impressive deals of transfer deadline day when they signed Alfonso Pedraza from Villarreal.
The Spain under-20 international has signed on loan until the end of the season, with the Whites having an option to but if they win promotion.
Yahoo Sport report that Premier League side West Ham scouted Pedraza last month, but a connection with Leeds assistant coach and fellow Spaniard Pep Clotet helped swing a deal in their favour.

Pedraza’s goal is to become a Premier League player, which he aims to do with the Whites, but Yahoo Sport report the winger believes he is good enough to play in the top flight next season.
That is why West Ham should continue to pay close attention to Pedraza’s performances for Leeds, and whether he becomes available in the summer should the Championship side fail to reach the top flight.
A spell in a club at the top of the Championship is an ideal way for Pedraza to get acclimatised to English football, and West Ham, seeking wide players after Dimitri Payet’s exit, would be remiss to suddenly forget about him.

It appears Leeds have got their hands on a gem of a player, and have stolen a march on several big clubs in order to sign him up, with The Independent reporting last year that Everton wanted to sign him – a deal which fell through after Roberto Martinez was fired.
Now all the 20-year-old speedster needs to do is live up to the hype, but if Leeds can’t clinch promotion, there is a strong chance they could lose him.
