Danny Drinkwater has told Chelsea he wants to leave, should West Ham consider a move?

With less than three months before the summer transfer window opens on July 1, clubs will be drawing up shortlists ahead of the 2018-19 season but there are no prizes for guessing where West Ham United need to invest first.
In the January transfer window, David Moyes tried repeatedly to bring a central midfielder to the London Stadium. Pedro Obiang’s long-term injury had left just Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate, with Edimilson Fernandes also sidelined.
Although Swiss midfielder Fernandes has returned to action, there have been question marks surrounding the performances of Kouyate. Basically, the Hammers need to buy a proven central midfielder who can dictate the tempo.

Step forward Danny Drinkwater, after the Guardian claim the England international will consider his future at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season as he becomes fed-up with a bit-part role under Antonio Conte.
The 28-year-old has featured just 22 times in all competitions, 10 of which have been from the substitutes’ bench, as Tiemoue Bakayoko, N’Golo Kante, Cesc Fabregas and Ross Barkley all look to start.
West Ham were linked with the likes of Leander Dendoncker, Tom Cairney, Jonjo Shelvey, Morgan Schneiderlin, Tom Davies and plenty of other central midfielders but failed to get a move done.

But with Drinkwater just one appearance away from 100 Premier League outings, as well as a League winners’ medal, the former Leicester City star boasts exactly what is required to push the Hammers from relegation candidates into mid-table obscurity.
Drinkwater still has four years on his a five-year deal he signed last summer, with the Daily Express claiming it is worth £120,000 a week.
Boasting an intricate array of passing, Drinkwater is combative when he needs to be and is also renowned for his long-range shooting ability. All in all, his calibre and influence on a match would prove to be a major coup at West Ham.
