West Ham United have given their reaction to finally pulling off the signing of Palmeiras winger Luis Guilherme.

Tim Steidten was hard at work for West Ham United to try and pull off this deal for the Brazilian and the Hammers finally have their man.

We had previously reported that West Ham had pulled the plug on the deal due to the club’s owner, David Sullivan, ending the deal due to the cost associated with the signing of the Brazilian.

However, just ten days later the East London club have pulled off a deal for just £20 million, £10 million lower than what was the reported demand of the South American club.

Club’s delight in pulling off deal

Speaking after the official announcement of the deal, Steidten, who has mentioned was critical in trying to get this signing over the line, was delighted.

“We are really happy that Luis Guilherme is now a West Ham United player,” said Steidten. “He is a very exciting young talent who we have followed for some time, and once we became aware that he was available, Julen and I were determined to bring him to London.

“Luis has enjoyed a fantastic start to his professional career with Palmeiras – naturally a wide player but with the flexibility to play across other attacking positions, which is an important and valuable factor in the modern game.

“He is technically very gifted, but also has very good physical qualities – great pace, strength and stamina, and these are traits that will help him to adapt to the demands of the Premier League and English football.”

Guilherme struggles

The deal was certainly not an easy one for the Hammers to do. After Sullivan had originally pulled the plug on the deal, it was Steidten who was behind the resurrection of the transfer.

HITC have reported that the final fee is set to be around £20 million plus add-ons, which is a great deal for a player considered as a brilliant talent.

Fans of the Hammers will be hoping that the Brazilian lives up to expectation under Julen Lopetegui.
