According to The Telegraph, David Moyes is on the brink of losing his job at West Ham United.
The London club are in the midst of a relegation battle, and apparently, a loss to Everton at the weekend will seal the Scot’s fate.
West Ham may be ready to pull the trigger on sacking Moyes, and according to The Telegraph, the Hammers have three potential options lined up as short-term options.
Indeed, this report has named Nuno Espirito Santo, Rafa Benitez and Sean Dyche as three managers who could replace Moyes if he is sacked, but, interestingly, West Ham are only keen on giving any of these managers contracts until the end of the season.
West Ham clearly see these three managers as ‘fire-fighters’ who can save them from relegation, but they are playing a dangerous game in making a short-term appointment here.
Yes, saving their Premier League skin is the most important thing right now, but if you only appoint a manager on a short-term deal, they don’t really have much incentive to stamp their mark on the club – that is, unless you offer them a huge bonus for avoiding relegation.
The Hammers have seemingly written this season off, and if Moyes is to go, there is seemingly going to be a big period of transition ahead.
The London club could be set to have three different managers over the next six months, and that sort of instability won’t bode well for the Clarets’ long-term prospects.
Of course, that all hinges on Moyes losing his job first, but given how West Ham have been performing as of late, you’d have to be a fool to confidently say that they’re going to get a result against Everton at the weekend.
