West Ham’s youngsters performed admirably in under-21 tie.

West Ham United’s under-21 team performed admirably in a EFL Trophy clash against Cheltenham Town.
Hammers coach Dmitri Hajalko has told the club’s official website that two defenders suffered ‘quite bad injuries’ during the defeat.
West Ham lost the game 4-3, having led 3-1 at half time.
Centre backs Reece Hannam and Iyiola Adebayo both had to be substituted.
Hajalko said: “Unfortunately for them they’ve both got quite bad injuries. Their night didn’t really go according to plan.”
This was Adebayo’s first game for the under-21s.
Both players stepped in for Goncalo Cardoso and Jamal Baptiste, who are with international youth teams.
Considering the way West Ham’s squad was stretched, they did well to run Cheltenham so close.
No further details are available on the nature or projected recovery time for injuries suffered to Hannam, 19, and Adebayo, 17.
Heopfully it is not too serious for either, despite Hajalko’s pessimistic view.
