West Ham youngster continues to impress, even in defeat.
West Ham under-23 coach Liam Manning has praised Nathan Holland – even though he was upset with the team’s defeat.
West Ham lost on Friday to Arsenal, with the Gunners recording a 3-2 win.
Xande Silva and Reece Oxford scored West Ham’s goals, but it was Holland who caught the eye.
Manning told West Ham’s official website: “A positive we can take was Nathan Holland; I think he was the pick of the players on the pitch, and ultimately that’s what it’s about.
“Of course we want to win games and do well as a team, but we can’t lose sight that it’s about developing players and I think Nathan was great tonight and showed his qualities going forward.”
Holland told the club website in July he is hoping to catch the eye of new first team manager Manuel Pellegrini.
Football London reported this week that Holland has been training with the first team ahead of the game with Arsenal this weekend.
The fact he played for the under-23s yesterday hints he will not feature for Pellegrini this weekend, but his performance will have helped his case for further chances.
