West Ham prospect led the way in a 4-0 under-23 victory.
West Ham youngster Joe Powell scored an impressive long range effort in the under-23 side’s latest victory.
The side won 4-0 away at Stoke, maintaining their lead at the top of the table.
Hammers coach Dmitri Halajko was impressed with the team, telling the club website he felt it was their most complete game of the season to date.
He also took time to praise Powell after his 35 yard goal, chipping the goalkeeper after spotting him off his line.
Halajko said: “That his second time this season where he’s lobbed the keeper from well near the halfway line. He did it in pre-season against Anderlecht, a little bit further out actually.
“He’s got that technical ability, so it wasn’t too much of a shock really because we know he can do it.”
This was Powell’s third goal of the season for the under-23s in seven games. He also has two assists.
The 20-year-old is clearly growing in confidence, as shown by his decision even to try to lob the ‘keeper from range.
Powell’s next step might need to be a loan move, but for now, he is flourishing by playing his part for Halajko.
