West Ham United coach Liam Manning has hailed teenager Marcus Browne in an interview with the club’s official website after his performance against Wycombe Wanderers.
The Hammers’ development side lost 3-0 to League Two side Wycombe in the EFL Trophy, with Adebayo Akinfenwa, Scott Kashket and Nick Freeman all finding the net for the Chairboys.
Fans won’t have been paying too much attention to the game even during the international break, given how supporters up and down the country have voted against the competition with their feet, as attendances are remarkably low.
However, West Ham fans may be encouraged by playmaker Marcus Browne, whose performances has been hailed following the final whistle at Adams Park.
The 18-year-old has come up through the ranks with West Ham having joined the club at the age of eight, way back in 2006.
Browne has already made his first-team debut having featured as a substitute against Astra Giurgiu in the Europa League back in August, but has yet to play in the Premier League – though that may not be too far away having been hailed by coach Liam Manning.
Manning spoke to the West Ham official website about Tuesday’s game, and singled out Browne for praise, stating that his performance was ‘excellent’.

Manning added that Browne can comfortably play at a higher level, giving fans something to get excited about as West Ham again look to bring young talent up through the ranks in the near future.
“Marcus [Browne] was excellent tonight,” said Manning. “He stood out and people will go away and have a positive perception on him and he’s shown he can comfortably play higher than this level,” he added.
