The Hammers officially appointed David Moyes as their new manager this morning, and the club’s co-owner David Sullivan released a statement via the official website welcoming the Scotsman to his new role at the London Stadium.

West Ham have made a miserable start to their 2017/18 campaign, and are currently in a whole world of trouble as they sit precariously in 18th position in the Premier League table, after their woeful return of just nine points from their opening 11 games.

The former Everton and Manchester United boss now faces a huge task ahead of him, if he is to turn things around at the London Stadium, and mastermind his side’s climb up the table.

Sullivan, though, explained that he has full faith in Moyes’ ability to guide the Hammers away from the danger-zone, when releasing an official statement regarding the appointment of the Scot, via the club’s official website:

“I would like to welcome David to West Ham United. This is a unique position for David Gold and myself – it is the first time in almost eight years at West Ham United that we have appointed a new manager during the season. We need somebody with experience, knowledge of the Premier League and the players in it, and we believe David is the right man to turn things around and get the best out of the players at the Club.”
