West Ham co-chairman reveals he has only just recovered from West Brom thumping via Twitter

David Gold has recovered slowly from the 4-0 defeat last weekend.

West Ham have a massive game against local rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend and for one man, he will be hoping for a massive improvement on their last outing.

The Hammers were spanked in the FA Cup last weekend by Premier League rivals West Brom 4-0, leaving a sour taste in the mouth of those West Ham fans hoping for silverware this season. That dream is now gone and with European football slipping away in the league they are now seemingly playing for pride.

So co-chairman David Gold is hoping for a better result than the one at the weekend. He took to Twitter last night to reveal that he has only just got over the loss and share his hopes of overcoming Mauricio Pochettino’s men:

West Ham have been under the microscope this week. It was reported in The Mirror earlier this week that manager Sam Allardyce held ‘crunch’ talks over his future with Gold last Tuesday. Allardyce’s contract expires at the end of the season.

He himself is unconcerned by the rumours, with Allardyce yesterday telling Sky Sports:

“I have never pushed to get them to say what’s going on in the contract situation because they made that perfectly clear since day one, when I joined the football club.

“It was the same when my contract ran out last time, I waited until the end of the season. We’ve stayed in the Premier League and it’ll be the same this time.”

12 months ago West Ham fans would have unanimously wanted Allardyce gone, but he has done well to change their style of play this season and, in turn, their results have also improved massively.

So it will be interesting to see where this situation goes come the summer.
