David Gold has offered updates on West Ham United’s Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has taken to Twitter to offer updates on strikers Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho.

The Hammers picked up a 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, as Sakho headed home Dimitri Payet’s free kick to give West Ham the lead, before Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored from a Paul Pogba pass to hand the Red Devils a share of the spoils.

Manager Slaven Bilic may feel that it could have been more than a point, but it was another step in the right direction for West Ham, who are hovering precariously above the relegation zone.

Bilic will have bittersweet feelings over Sakho’s afternoon, as whilst the Senegalese hitman scored a fine goal – the first league goal by a West Ham striker this season – and turned in a strong performance, he was taken off through injury on 66 minutes.

Sakho has missed the first three months of the season and only returned in last weekend’s defeat to Tottenham, so losing him so soon after his return would be a major blow for West Ham and Bilic.

After the final whistle at Old Trafford, West Ham co-chairman David Gold took to Twitter to offer an update on Sakho, suggesting that he has suffered a hamstring injury, and the Hammers won’t know the full extent of his injury until the striker has a scan.

Gold also commented on the status of another striker, this time in Andy Carroll. All the signs pointed to Carroll playing some part against United, but he wasn’t even in Bilic’s matchday squad.

The target man has played just once this season and that was way back on the opening day of the campaign, and Gold revealed on Twitter that West Ham actually decided to give Carroll another week of intensive training before throwing him back in to Premier League action.
