Arsenal may have shown an interest in signing Armando Broja but Anton Ferdinand think the Chelsea striker should head to West Ham United instead.

Broja, 20, is out on loan at Southampton this season having shown major promise in the Chelsea ranks.

Broja has hit six goals in 30 Premier League games, which may not look like the most impressive record.

You have to remember that this is Broja’s first full season in the Premier League and his all-round displays have been hugely impressive.

Broja has the physicality and aggressive edge to fight and battle with any centre back.

Yet if those defenders get too close, Broja has the skill to go right past them; just ask Harry Maguire.

Broja looks like becoming a defender’s nightmare in the coming years but whether his future lies with Chelsea remains to be seen.

Even with Reece James and Mason Mount thriving, it’s still hard for young players to break through at Chelsea.

Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi had to move on and even Tammy Abraham – a striker just like Broja – moved on last summer to Roma.

That shows that Broja may face a difficult path to first-team action at Chelsea and a move away may make some sense.

Arsenal fancy signing the Albanian international according to Football London but they’re far from alone in the race.

West Ham are keen according to the Daily Mail with David Moyes seeking another striker to support Michail Antonio.

Former West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand has now told The Sun that he really wants to see the Hammers go and sign Broja this summer.

That may well be complicated given Chelsea’s off-field problems but Ferdinand believes Broja is ‘exciting’ and ‘powerful’, similar to Antonio.

Ferdinand added that Broja is exactly the kind of striker West Ham should be going for this summer with Moyes eyeing an ambitious move.

“I’d like us to go and get Broja, who’s at Southampton on loan from Chelsea,” said Ferdinand. “He’s exciting. He can finish. He’s a powerful young man. Not the same but similar to Antonio in terms of his presence and strength.”

“He’s willing to run and occupy two centre-backs and for me personally, he’s somebody that West Ham should look to go and get,” he added.
