West Ham United have entered the race to sign Layvin Kurzawa with the defender keen to leave Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.

Mauricio Pochettino has frozen Kurzawa out at Le Parc des Princes since replacing Thomas Tuchel at the helm in January. The 29-year-old has only made 17 appearances under the Argentine during 2021. He has also only made one, nine-minute outing so far this term.

Kurzawa made his sole appearance of the season as a late substitute during Les Parisiens’ Trophee des Champions defeat. LOSC Lille beat PSG in the curtain-raiser, with Pochettino not naming the full-back in a Ligue 1 matchday squad since the opening day on August 7.

Pochettino also only named Kurzawa on the Paris Saint-Germain bench for three of their six Champions League group stage ties. Instead, he favoured Juan Bernat and Abdou Diallo.

PSG pushing Kurzawa to leave, amid West Ham transfer interest

Kurzawa now has a bleak future at Paris Saint-Germain before the January transfer window opens, with West Ham – alongside Serie A sides Napoli and Lazio – monitoring his situation.

PSG are pushing Kurzawa to leave once the market begins, given Pochettino’s opposition to including him in his plans. The 13-cap France defender also hopes to leave the Ligue 1 giants next month in order to find playing time.

West Ham, Lazio and Napoli are courting the idea of a transfer for Kurzawa, amid his plight at Paris Saint-Germain. But he remains under contract at Le Parc des Princes until 2024 on an £89k-a-week contract signed only last year.

Paris Saint-Germain are also yet to set their asking price for the full-back. They signed him from Monaco in 2015 for €23m (£19.5m) to give Laurent Blanc a substitute for Lucas Digne.

Kurzawa will face competition from Aaron Cresswell should the Paris Saint-Germain outcast transfer to West Ham. The 32-year-old is David Moyes’ undisputed first-choice for the role.
