He is now under contract until 2022.

The Sun reported they wanted to sign the former Tottenham midfielder, but were put off by Watford’s £12 million asking price.

Capoue’s contract would have been up in June 2019, which would have given West Ham hope they could knock Watford’s asking price down this summer.

Now he is under a new deal the Hammers will have to concentrate their efforts elsewhere.

The Frenchman has made 14 appearances this season in the Premier League, playing all 90 minutes in the win against Everton this weekend.
