West Ham wanted to sign Watford midfielder last month.

West Ham’s chances of signing Etienne Capoue in the summer appear to be over after he signed a new contract with Watford.
Watford announced a new deal for Capoue on their official website earlier today (Thursday).
He is now under contract until 2022.
West Ham had shown an interest in signing Capoue in the transfer window.

Capoue’s contract would have been up in June 2019, which would have given West Ham hope they could knock Watford’s asking price down this summer.
Now he is under a new deal the Hammers will have to concentrate their efforts elsewhere.
The Frenchman has made 14 appearances this season in the Premier League, playing all 90 minutes in the win against Everton this weekend.
