Should West Ham offer Carlos Tevez an audacious rescue opportunity?

Football Soccer - Argentine First Division - River Plate v Boca Juniors

Carlos Tevez’s Chinese dream is reportedly leaving him dissatisfied, with the striker failing to settle, The Mirror report.

His staggering £615,000 a week salary surely helps alleviate some of these feelings, with Shanghai Shenhua making him the world’s best footballer.

Yet anybody who has seen Tevez play will not be surprised that a player used to striking a passionate rapport with crowds and possessing a never say die attitude on the pitch is feeling a little empty in the Far East.

It might sound a little pie in the sky, but former side West Ham reaching out to him might not be the most ludicrous decision in the world.

Tevez played for the Hammers in 2005/06, and after a shaky start he became a fan favourite, scoring goals which earned the points to allow them to scrape by and improbably avoid relegation.

West Ham could not offer anywhere near the amount of money he is earning, even one sixth of it would be a serious push – but they could provide potential happiness.

Tevez would be hero worshipped in East London, and would get the chance to play in a competitive league once again. He has always spoken fondly of his time at the club, and if he is seriously unhappy in China, may realise what he once had.

The Mail reported last summer that West Ham made an approach for him and were knocked back, but it always had to be a serious financial offer to tempt him to leave Boca Juniors.

If he wants out of China, why not have one last attempt at trying to convince him to play for happiness rather than cash and take a detour before an inevitable return to Argentina?
