The Belgian striker frequently found the net against West Ham while playing for Everton.
When West Ham United face Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday night they will be extremely grateful that they won’t have to face Romelu Lukaku.
Everton have proven to be very difficult opponents for West Ham in recent seasons, with the Toffees having won five of the last eight Premier League meetings between the sides.
Lukaku certainly played a major part in that sequence as he scored one goal in seven consecutive league games against West Ham.
The Belgian certainly knows how to terrorise the West Ham defence and did so again earlier this season as he hit a brace against them for Manchester United.
However, with Lukaku not in action tonight, West Ham will have extra hope of being able to prevail past Everton as manager David Moyes takes on one of his former clubs.
West Ham will take encouragement from their 1-1 draw with Leicester City and will look to inflict further misery on an Everton side that have been woeful this season and have been sorely lacking ruthlessness in attack following Lukaku’s departure.
