Jose Enrique has claimed on Twitter that it is a ‘joke’ if West Ham United have beaten Liverpool to the transfer of Lucas Paqueta.
Jurgen Klopp is in need of another midfielder before Thursday’s transfer deadline day, with West Ham backing David Moyes by splashing £51 million on Paqueta from Lyon (Sky Sports).
A highly skilful number eight, with a great passing range, the ability to win defensive duels and someone who can operate that box-to-box role, it has to be questioned why Liverpool didn’t knock for his services.

Lyon president Aulas did claim that he expected the ‘very big clubs’ to sign their player, but nothing materialised, so he ended up in East London, as posted by Get French Football.
In years gone by, whilst Klopp has built a successful ship on Merseyside, he hasn’t exactly been given wads of cash to spend like a certain state-owned team in the Premier League.
Enrique made it clear that it would be a ‘joke’ if their possible reasons for not signing Paqueta was down to the owners not being willing to splash the cash.
PAQUETA IS A TOP PURCHASE FOR WEST HAM
There’s no doubt that Paqueta would be good enough to play for Liverpool, so that in itself proves what a top signing West Ham made in the Brazil star.
After securing Europe once again last season, those in the East London boardroom have well and truly backed Moyes in the transfer market.
They have spent a tad under £200 million this summer, only Chelsea have spent more, so that in itself signals the intentions of the club.
Given what Klopp archives at Liverpool, it has to be questioned what he has to do in order for FSG to back him in the market in that manner.
