West Ham United could see Slaven Bilic return to the Premier League after he became a contender to become the new Burnley boss.

Burnley took the shock decision to sack boss Sean Dyche last Friday, bringing an end to more than eight years in charge of the Clarets.

It’s unclear whether Burnley want an interim appointment until the end of the season or a long-term appointment right now.

Now though, Lancs Live report that former West Ham boss Bilic is one of a number of names under consideration at Turf Moor.

It’s claimed that Burnley are considering an approach for Bilic in the coming days.

Bilic is out of work having left Chinese side Beijing Guoan at the beginning of 2022. That may be appealing to Burnley, with no compensation to be paid.

The Croatian boss, 53, has Premier League experience with both West Ham and West Bromwich Albion.

Bilic took the West Ham job in 2015 as he returned to one of the clubs he joined in his playing days.

Bilic guided West Ham into Europe in his first season in charge but it all unraveled in 2017, leading to his departure.

His nomadic career continued as he headed off to Saudi Arabia with Al-Ittihad, only to return to England with West Brom in 2019.

Bilic took West Brom back to the Premier League but was sacked in December 2020 with the Baggies struggling against relegation.

After a year in China, Bilic could now head back to England once again, this time with Burnley.

Having been managing in Croatia, Russia, Turkey, England, Saudi Arabia and China, Bilic would no doubt love to settle down somewhere.

Matching Dyche’s lengthy spell at Burnley is unlikely, but he may well see the Clarets as a stable club to rebuild his reputation again.

West Ham fans would no doubt wish Bilic the best if he does return to the Premier League, even if it ends with him in the Championship.
