West Ham United striker Andy Carroll was linked with a shock move to Tottenham Hotspur.

In comments reported by Football London, Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that Andy Carroll will be at West Ham for the rest of the season when asked about the surprise rumours linking the striker with Tottenham.

The Sun reported earlier this week that Spurs were considering a £2 million move for Carroll this month as Mauricio Pochettino looked to deal with the number of attacking injuries he currently has within his ranks.

It seemed like one of the most unlikely moves of the window, and it would have been an incredible shock had Tottenham actually made a move for Carroll this month. And yet, Pellegrini has managed to make a deal look even more unlikely by insisting that the forward is going nowhere this month.

“They are rumours,” he said, as reported by Football London, when asked about the Spurs links.

“There is a lot of different rumours for different players, I don’t think that Andy Carroll will leave the club until the end of the season if he continues here.”

While Spurs signing Carroll always appeared to be unlikely at best, his comments are still interesting as the 30-year-old leaving did not appear to be out of the question entirely.

While Marko Arnautovic’s future is in doubt, it would be a gamble to let him go. But the London Evening Standard recently suggested that the Hammers want to keep their talisman until at least the summer, so that would have seemingly allowed West Ham to open the door for Carroll’s exit if they had wanted.

But Pellegrini’s comments suggest that Carroll will not be leaving for Spurs or any other club during this window.
