According to The Sun, Reece Oxford wants to stay and fight for his place at West Ham United, but it may be wise for Manuel Pellegrini to deny the youngster his wish.

Oxford was given a bumper contract after showing great promise as a 16-year-old, but he has not developed at the rate many at West Ham were hoping.

The youngster is now almost 20, but he has barely threatened to break into West Ham’s team.

Oxford actually seemed to be pushing for a move away from West Ham, but now seems to have a change of heart, and wants to stick around at fight for a place.

But Pellegrini may be better off letting Oxford leave in the January transfer window.

Issa Diop is only just over a year older than Oxford, but he is already trusted to start for West Ham.

And it may be best for both player and club if Oxford is allowed to leave at the next opportunity.
