The West Ham United striker suffered a knee injury against Everton yesterday.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s superb 3-1 away win at Everton yesterday, and responded when asked whether the injury sustained by Marko Arnautovic is a serious one, as quoted by Football.London.
The Hammers were quite simply brilliant at Goodison Park yesterday, and everything good that they did went through the Austrian, who led the line with aplomb.
Arnautovic, 29, joined West Ham from Stoke City in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £24 million, and he has gone on to establish himself as somewhat of a cult hero at the London Stadium.
The east London outfit now sit in 16th spot in the Premier League table, and if they are to have any chance whatsoever of making a sustained push for the Europa League spots this term, they will need Arnie to be fit and firing on all cylinders.
Pellegrini spoke to reporters yesterday, and responded when asked whether the Austria international’s injury is a serious one, as quoted by Football.London:
“We’ll see. I can tell you know if it is or it’s not. It’s behind his left knee, he felt something. Tomorrow we have a recovery day and we will see what happens after that.”
Next up for West Ham is a huge clash with Chelsea on Sunday, and Pellegrini will be praying that Arnautovic is ready for the visit of Maurizio Sarri’s men.
