West Ham United seem to have been linked with the world and its wife since Manuel Pellegrini’s appointment as the club’s new manager.
West Ham have been linked with a raft of new signings since Manuel Pellegrini‘s appointment as the Chilean looks to add some much needed quality to the Hammers squad, as reported by the likes of the Telegraph.
West Ham are interested in the likes of Felipe Anderson, Javier Pastore, Yaya Toure, Jack Wilshere, Rafinha, Cristian Pavon and Mario Gotze according to various reports.
Those kind of names have supporters paying attention to the transfer rumour mill understandable excited.
But Manuel Pellegrini has left the club and fans in no doubt where he sees his priority in his first transfer window at West Ham in a candid interview with the club’s official website.
“I will work hard with the director of football to try to make a very strong squad,” Pellegrini told whufc.com.
“Maybe a lot of people are thinking about defenders because last season West Ham had the worst defensive record in the league, so we must arrange that, but we must also have a balanced squad and not just a team.
“We have time over the next two months to see which better players we can bring here.”
Pellegrini is spot on in his assessment as the Hammers shipped an eye watering 68 goals last season, joint worst in the top flight along with relegated Stoke.
Luckily for the Hammers only seven teams scored more than them which enabled the club to avoid relegation in a 13th place finish.
And prioritising the defence means the first deals West Ham fans might expect to see over the line will be the likes of linked centre backs Issa Diop (pictured), Alfie Mawson and Marlon Santos as well as goalkeeper Lukas Fabianski.
