The midfielder played 58 minutes for West Ham United today.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Birmingham City today, and praised Samir Nasri after the Frenchman made his debut for the east London outfit, as quoted by Football.London.
The Hammers safely progressed through to the fourth round of the competition, with Pellegrini making a whole host of changes to the side that drew with Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday night.
All the attention today was on Nasri, however.
The 31-year-old completed his move to West Ham on a free transfer earlier this week, and he has a lot to prove to the manger and fans, if he is to be rewarded with a long-term deal at the end of the season.
Pellegrini seemed pleased with Nasri’s performance against Birmingham, telling reporters how impressive he was considering the fact that he has not played a competitive game for so long, as quoted by Football.London:
“He did well. He had not played for a long time. I was very happy with the way he played today. The ball was always around him, now he will be considered for other games. Next is Arsenal but he has demonstrated he is back.”
Next up for West ham is a home game against Arsenal next weekend, and Nasri will be hoping for a chance to shine against the club that brought him to England nearly 11 years ago.
