West Ham United boss David Moyes is ‘hoping’ Danny Ings has a big impact for the ‘next three/four years’. The striker is now nearing a full return to fitness following a knee injury.
But Ings is only under contract at the London Stadium until 2025 after joining the Irons this January. The 30-year-old moved to east London from Aston Villa for an upfront £12m, plus £3m in add-ons. But the Hammers only awarded the striker a two-and-a-half year contract.
His deal takes the three-cap England international up to his 33rd birthday in July 2025. Yet Moyes has now voiced hope in having Ings around in claret-and-blue until, potentially, his 35th birthday in 2027. Angelo Ogbonna at 34 is currently the Irons’ eldest outfield player.

David Moyes hints at wanting Danny Ings at West Ham until 2027
“I think Danny Ings’ reputation speaks for itself,” Moyes said, as quoted by football.london. “His goals he has scored at nearly all the clubs he has played for. I’m hoping that he can reproduce that here.
“Unfortunately, he picked up a bit of knee injury after 30 seconds of coming on [against Everton]. So, maybe we would’ve seen more of him so far.
“He’s getting closer to readiness and he’s settling in. We’ve got him here for a few years on a contract. So, it’s not as if we have to get him out in the next two/three/four weeks. We have to make sure we have him ready to play for the next three/four years.”

Danny Ings is yet to show what he can offer in east London
Ings is yet to show what he can offer in east London due to the knee injury he suffered on his debut under Moyes for West Ham. But the Daily Mail has reported that the forward is now fit to start. His four appearances in claret-and-blue so far have been from the bench.
The Winchester-born striker also featured for 18 minutes against Everton, despite picking up the problem shortly after coming on. He would also get nine minutes against Newcastle United, 23 against Chelsea and 18 at Tottenham Hotspur whilst striving to build his fitness.
But Moyes now needs Ings to put his injury behind him and deliver at West Ham. The Irons host relegation-rivals Nottingham Forest on Saturday boasting the fourth-worst offence in the top-flight this term. Only Wolves, Everton (17) and Forest (18) have scored fewer (19).
Ings is yet to open his account for West Ham through 68 minutes as a substitute over four games. But he left Aston Villa having hit home six goals in 18 Premier League matches this season. The forward only started in eight of his outings for the Birmingham outfit, as well.
