West Ham are reportedly confident they can sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah, with Tottenham also in the race for the German international.
According to Bild, the Irons believe they can lure the 27-year-old centre-back to east London despite their current Premier League position and interest from other English sides, with 90min claiming that Tottenham are also interested in Tah.
Lauded in the report as a defender who is enjoying a ‘phenomenal’ season, Tah has been on the radar for many top European sides for what feels like forever, yet this summer could be the window when the Leverkusen star finally makes the move away from Germany.
With West Ham on course for Premier League survival, though, Tah could be making an unusual choice in signing for the Irons given that Tottenham, as well as Liverpool and Newcastle United, are all chasing the defender, who could be available for just £25m according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Indeed, David Moyes’ side winning the race for the Germany international would be quite the coup for West Ham, yet the chances of actually signing Tah could all hinge on if the Irons go all the way in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
