West Ham United are reportedly set to challenge Tottenham Hotspur for the Aston Villa ace’s signature.

According to a report from the Mirror, West Ham are set to challenge Tottenham for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish this summer, and should the east London outfit beat their fierce rivals to the 23-year-old’s signature, it would be a sign of their ambition.
The Villa ace has been in excellent form for Dean Smith’s side this season, racking up four goals and four assists in 24 Championship outings, and he has undoubtedly been one of the west Midlands outfit’s best players of the campaign this far.
Tottenham have been interested in Grealish since last summer, according to the Mirror, but now West Ham have allegedly entered the race to sign him, although he won’t come cheap.
According to a report from the Times, the 23-year-old has a £45 million release clause inserted into his current contract with the Villans, and whilst that seems like a heck of a lot of money, in today’s day and age it would actually represent decent value for money.
And what a signing Grealish would be for West Ham.
The Hammers are in desperate need of both youth and quality in the middle of the park, and the Villa man fits the bill perfectly.
He possesses exceptional technique, and has the ability to unlock stubborn defences what with his superb vision and array of passing.

And beating Tottenham to his signature would make the signing of Grealish even sweeter for West Ham.
The Hammers will be able to offer the Villa ace more regular first-team action than Spurs, and that might just be enough to convince him into moving to the London Stadium.
West Ham are a club with great ambition, and signing the talented midfield ace would be great evidence of that.
