West Ham United are still keen on signing Clermont Foot striker Mohamed Bayo and could launch a move for him in 2022.

That’s according to The Sun, who claim that the Hammers haven’t given up hope of luring Bayo to East London.

Bayo was a prime target for West Ham during the summer, but no deal was done before the deadline.

The Hammers instead focused on Kurt Zouma, Alex Kral and Nikola Vlasic.

That doesn’t mean the interest in Bayo is over though, with West Ham still hoping to sign him.

Who is Mohamed Bayo?

Bayo, 23, has come up through the ranks with hometown club Clermont Foot.

Bayo smashed 22 goals and seven assists to fire Clermont Foot to promotion last season.

This term, the Guinean international has already hit three goals and two assists in six games.

After starring in Ligue 2, Bayo is now impressing in France’s top flight – and West Ham are watching all the way.

Do West Ham need Bayo?

They need to find a striker from somewhere, and Bayo would fit the bill in terms of not breaking the bank.

Michail Antonio’s recent suspension showed West Ham’s lack of alternatives.

Sure, Nikola Vlasic and Jarrod Bowen can fill in there if absolutely needed, but they’re not Antonio.

Bayo is at least more similar in terms of athletic profile. He seems himself as being similar to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which is pretty bold stuff.

Having excelled in France, Bayo may now be ready for a step up – and offering competition for Antonio could be ideal.
