West Ham wanted Bailey Cadamarteri but the teenager has now decided to commit his future to Sheffield Wednesday with a new contract.
Wednesday missed out on promotion back to the Championship having been beaten by Sunderland in the League One playoff semi-finals.
Darren Moore now faces a big summer as he attempts to mount another promotion push next season, with some important signings needed.
Wednesday have been given a boost without bringing in a new face though as youngster Cadamarteri has committed his future to the club.
West Ham wanted Bailey Cadamarteri
Wednesday have today confirmed that Cadamarteri has signed his first professional contract with the club.
Cadamarteri, 17, has already been playing Under-23 football for Wednesday and has now secured himself a professional deal.
Cadamarteri is a striker just like his father Danny Cadamarteri, who was a Premier League striker with Everton in his playing days.
This news is a huge boost for Wednesday, who will be looking for the teenager to kick on in the coming years whilst fending off rival interest.
Yet for West Ham, this new may come as something of a blow.

The Sun reported earlier this week that West Ham were showing a real interest in signing Cadamarteri this summer.
Brentford were also interested but Cadamarteri has decided to stay with Wednesday having been with the club since the age of eight.
Some may wonder if Danny Cadamarteri actually played under West Ham boss David Moyes at Everton.
Remarkably though, the pair missed each other by mere weeks; Cadamarteri senior left Everton in February 2002 and Moyes arrived as Everton boss just a month later.
The pair missed each other some 20 years ago and West Ham have now missed out on signing Cadamarteri junior in another tale of a sliding doors moment in football.
