West Ham United’s wasted season could see them risk losing key player Cheikhou Kouyate this summer.

For most Hammers fans, what has been a disappointing season can’t end quick enough.

The Hammers have endured a torrid second season under Bilic after their record breaking farewell campaign at Upton Park.

Knocked out of the Europa League, EFL Cup and FA Cup in embarrassing fashion, the East Londoners then lost star player Dimitri Payet after he forced through a return to Marseille.

Bilic turned things around after Christmas as the club pulled away from the relegation zone but results have dipped again of late with no win in five and three defeats on the bounce.

There is no real danger of the Hammers going down and they are unlikely to be able to challenge the top 10 now in what has been a wasted season with no young academy players having progressed into the first team either.

With Payet gone, West Ham are most at risk of losing another key player in the shape of popular midfield star Cheikhou Kouyate this summer.

The Senegal international told West Ham’s official website he was not happy at being continuously played out of position at right back in an interview which has since been deleted, as reported by HITC previously.

In fact Kouyate has spent the majority of the season playing out of position, whether it be right back or centre half and his presence in centre midfield has been sorely missed.

It has been a major frustration of supporters that Bilic continued to play Kouyate out of position.

And after attracting interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur in recent seasons he could decide it is time to move on from a club that has taken a big step backwards this season.
