West Ham United striker Ashley Fletcher has told the club’s official website that he bases his game on that of Everton hitman Romelu Lukaku.

One player hoping to prove himself is striker Ashley Fletcher, who joined the club from Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old has started just once in all competitions this season, but has impressed in his five substitute appearances, as he possesses pace, power and quick feet, whilst he has caught the eye with his desire to run at defenders.
Ahead of tonight’s game, which Fletcher is expected to start in, the youngster has been speaking to the club’s official website about his style of play.

Fletcher claims that he doesn’t want to be pigeon-holed as one particular type of striker, but did pick out his pace and quick feet as two of his main attributes.
Fletcher added that he bases his game on Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and former Arsenal hero Thierry Henry, as he likes to have the ball at his feet and run at opposition defenders.
Finally, Fletcher stated that he is keen to work with West Ham team-mate Andy Carroll, as he is one of the most dangerous players in the game when it comes to heading the ball, and wants to add that skill to his repertoire.
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku celebrates
“I definitely don’t want to be known as a certain type of striker,” said Fletcher. “I think I’ve got a lot of strings to my bow and have got decent pace for someone quite tall, and I’ve got good feet as well. I couldn’t really put a finger on what type of striker I am, because I’ve got variations of different types, which benefits me and benefits the team.”
“I prefer having the ball at my feet and driving at the defence. I look at players like Romelu Lukaku and Thierry Henry, back in his day, as the type of players who I base my game on. Having Andy Carroll here, who is one of the best headers of the ball in the game, is great and I’ll try to bring that into my game too,” he added.
