West Ham United’s search for a striker in January could take them to Switzerland after starting talks over a move for Basel striker Arthur Cabral.
That’s according to a report from Goal Brasil, who claim that West Ham are trying to push themselves to the front of the queue for Cabral.
It’s claimed that there was a meeting between West Ham intermediaries and Cabral’s representatives on Friday.
Held over the internet, talks were started as West Ham look to lure Cabral over to England.
West Ham learned that it will take €15million (£12.75million) to take Cabral away from Basel.
Cabral wants a move to one of the bigger European leagues, and West Ham can certainly offer that in the Premier League.
The problem is that Barcelona are also in talks for Cabral having approached his main agent Deco – yes, the former Chelsea man.
Barcelona pose a major threat to West Ham’s hopes of signing Cabral in what could be a January scramble.

Who is West Ham target Cabral?
Cabral emerged in his native Brazil with Ceara and Palmeiras, but has really excelled since moving to Switzerland.
The 23-year-old has now hit 62 goals and 17 assist in 100 games for Basel, which is a truly ridiculous record.
A physical and burly striker, Cabral has 24 goals and eight assists in just 25 outings this term.
Cabral would help ease the workload on Michail Antonio and West Ham securing him could be a major coup.
