It has been reported that West Ham are looking for a new right-back and have identified Rangers star Tavernier as a potential transfer target.
The Premier League are considering making a bid for the former Newcastle United man, with Brighton and Hove Albion and Burnley also interested in the 28-year-old right-back, according to the report, which has added that Rangers are planning to offer him a new deal.
Rangers stay
West Ham are a big club in England and are established in the Premier League, although they did have to fight hard for survival in the top flight of English football last season.
While one can understand the temptation to play in the Premier League, Tavernier is a big player at Rangers and seems to be happy at Ibrox.
With Steven Gerrard’s side aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title this season, it is hard to see Rangers entertain any offers for the 28-year-old, who was described as “tremendous” by former Gers manager Mark Warburton in The Scottish Sun in March 2020.
Tavernier is one of the best right-backs in Scotland, and has scored four goals and provided three assists in the Scottish Premiership so far this season, while in 2019-20 he scored three goals and provided nine assists in the league and scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists in the league in 2018-19, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
