TEAMtalk have reported that West Ham United are ready to lock horns with Wolves to sign Harry Souttar.
Souttar was one of the many Australian players who made a name for themselves at the World Cup.
Playing in his usual right-sided centre-back role, the Stoke City ace was key to his nation qualifying to the knockout rounds of the competition for the first time in their history.
There is no disputing that West Ham are in serious need of a brand-new central defender.
Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd are as injury-prone as they come, as they would ideally be David Moyes’ first-choice pairing at the back.
As for both Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna, the pair’s current contracts will expire in the summer of 2023.
Keeping these factors in mind, it would not be hyperbolic to label the Hammers’ centre-back situation as a “crisis.”
It is unsurprising to discover that the club are searching for a reinforcement such as Souttar.
West Ham are ready to compete with Wolves to sign Harry Souttar

TEAMtalk have now claimed that West Ham are prepared to hijack Wolves’ pursuit of World Cup hero Harry Souttar.
David Moyes has reportedly set his sights on adding a new centre-back to his ranks, especially considering the futures of both Ogbonna and Dawson are in the air.
While Julen Loptegui is also keen on signing Souttar, West Ham have kept the Australian defender in mind, if Stoke’s valuation in place sits right with them.
In our view: The Hammers need to be all over the Souttar deal
It would not be an overstatement to suggest that West Ham are perhaps one of the biggest underperformers in the Premier League in the 2022/2023 season.
After finishing as high as 7th last campaign, the East Londoners find themselves just a point above the relegation zone currently.
While West Ham have largely been defensively reliable, planning for the present and the future of the club by hijacking Wolves’ move for Harry Souttar would be advisable.
